Founding Operator & Systems Builder (AI-Native) – Clinical Research SMO

Job ID: 40309495

Budget: $2 – $8 USD

The Mission:
We are launching a national Clinical Research Site Management Organization (SMO) designed from day one to be AI-native. We are moving away from legacy spreadsheets and manual patient recruitment and are building a tech-forward infrastructure that scales across sites and studies.

The Role:
As the Founding Operator & Systems Builder, you will help design, implement, and continuously improve the operational backbone of our SMO. You will work directly with leadership to translate real-world clinical workflows into robust, automated, AI-supported systems for site management, study startup, patient recruitment, and ongoing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Map current clinical research and SMO workflows into clear processes and SOPs.

Design and help implement an AI-native operations stack for site management and CTMS-related activities.

Collaborate with product/engineering to specify and iterate on internal tools and automations.

Set up dashboards, tracking, and reporting that replace manual spreadsheets and ad-hoc methods.

Continuously identify bottlenecks and propose systems-level improvements to scalability, quality, and compliance.

Required Experience:

Hands-on experience in clinical research, clinical trials, or SMO/site management operations.

Familiarity with clinical systems (CTMS, eSource, or similar) and regulated workflows.

Strong systems-thinking mindset and ability to design and document repeatable processes.

Comfortable working in an early-stage, fast-moving environment with evolving requirements.

Nice to Have:

Experience working with AI/automation tools to streamline operations.

Background collaborating with technical teams (product, engineering, data).

What We Offer:

Long-term, high-ownership role in building a national SMO platform from the ground up.

Opportunity to shape how AI is embedded into day-to-day clinical operations.

Remote, flexible collaboration with a growing, tech-forward team.

When applying, please:

Share relevant experience in clinical trials/SMO operations and CTMS or similar systems.
