We're building Dream Server — an open source, self-hosted AI platform positioning itself as the Linux of Local AI. Free platform, sovereign deployment, zero dependency on Big AI. The project is cross-platform (Linux, Windows, Mac), runs on consumer and prosumer hardware, and is designed to deliver real AI infrastructure to nonprofits and mission-driven organizations.
This is early-stage, high-impact open source work. We're looking for a contributor who can grow with the project.
**The Stack**
- Linux / Docker / systemd service orchestration
- Python / AI inference (vLLM, llama.cpp, Whisper, Piper TTS)
- Open WebUI, n8n, Qdrant, ComfyUI
- Frontend dashboard (custom retro/CRT aesthetic)
- Cross-platform deployment and hardware compatibility
**What We're Looking For**
- Strong Linux fundamentals and Docker experience
- Familiarity with local AI inference (CUDA, ROCm, or Metal)
- Frontend capability (the dashboard has a strong visual identity)
- Someone who cares about sovereign, open source AI — not just the paycheck

We're not looking for the fastest applicant — we're looking for the one who gets it. Applications without repo engagement will not be considered. The most recent person we hired shipped a PR to get on our radar, quality fixes and improvements that passed audits actually moved the needle. That may seem like a lot, but it's something a bot can't fake and we all know there's a lot of that going around.
Hourly contract, rate commensurate with experience. Long-term relationship for the right person.
