We are a Boston-based fintech company building mobile money infrastructure for underserved markets. Our flagship product digitizes a traditional practice used by an estimated 1 billion people globally — and delivers it via iOS and Android apps, with USSD support for feature phones on 2G networks.
We are in active commercial partnership with a large mobile carrier in Africa and we have a hard delivery milestone in May 2026. This is not a prototype. This is a live production build with a real enterprise partner.

THE ROLE
We are hiring a long-term, full-time Lead Software Developer to own our Phase 1 build from foundation to milestone delivery. This is a high-trust, high-accountability role working directly with the CEO.
This is not a part-time or moonlighting engagement. If you have another project/day job, please do not apply.
3–4 years of experience preferred. We are not looking for the most senior developer in the room — we are looking for the right one. Specifically: someone who works fluently with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code in particular), moves fast, writes clean code, and knows how to validate and correct AI output. If you distrust AI and prefer to write every line yourself, this is not the role for you.

WHAT YOU WILL BUILD
- Python/FastAPI backend (modular monolith, PostgreSQL, Redis, DigitalOcean)
- Ericsson digital currency API integration (very well documented): payment initiation, status polling, callback handling, idempotency
- The lifecycle logic of the practice: Initiation, formation, scheduling, sequencing, member management
- Transaction state machine with robust error handling for 2G intermittent connectivity
- Financial-grade audit logging, reconciliation, and ledger integrity
- Android and iOS companion apps (React Native, Flutter, or equivalent — your recommendation)
- USSD menu engine: onboarding, contribution, payout, and account management flows

REQUIRED SKILLS
- AI-Native: You work with Claude Code or equivalent daily. You direct it, validate it, and correct it. This is a core working requirement.
- Python (3–4 years): FastAPI or Django REST, PostgreSQL, Redis, async programming, JWT/OAuth2
- Mobile: Android AND iOS experience (Kotlin/Java + Swift), OR React Native/Flutter with native module experience; published app required
- Infrastructure: DigitalOcean or AWS/GCP, Docker, Linux, CI/CD
- Security: Financial application security, encrypted storage, secrets management
- Communication: Strong written English, async remote work, Git
