FileMaker Pro to MySQL Cloud Migration
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
Job Description: MySQL Developer (FileMaker Pro Migration)
We are seeking an experienced MySQL developer to lead the migration of a FileMaker Pro system to a cloud-hosted MySQL environment.
This is a 3 week project focused on building a scalable, well-documented backend system with a user-friendly interface and KPI reporting.
You will work with AI-assisted development tools (ChatGPT Copilot or GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery. PLEASE NOTE YOU ARE NOT BEING ASKED TO INCLUDE THE WORK IN Phase 4 - do not include costing for Phase 4.
Project Phases & Deliverables
Phase 1 – Core Migration (Week 1, 35 hours)
• Cloud MySQL database setup (DigitalOcean Package Available)
• Data model design based on existing FileMaker structure
• Export, clean, and import FileMaker data
• Relational integrity and indexing
• Basic documentation for schema
Phase 2 – UI Rebuild (Week 2, 20 hours)
• Replicate and improve upon existing FileMaker screen layouts
• Responsive, web-based interface for internal use (Retool, Appsmith, or custom)
• Clean user workflows for goods-in, Production Worksheet generation, Notes & dispatch tracking
Phase 3 – Dashboards & KPI Reporting (Week 3, 20 hours)
• Design and implement dashboards for Goods-In performance, engineer throughput, individual goods-in-to-dispatch time analysis and batch profitability
• Prepare for integrations with Linnworks and Amazon SP-API
• Deliver daily/weekly exportable reports (PDF, CSV, or Google Sheets)
Phase 4 – Possible Future Automation & AI Features (not included in this contract)
• Smart Pricing Triggers (Price-Decay Logic)
Automatically adjust prices over time on slow-moving stock based on rules or sales velocity — with integrations to Amazon SP API or Linnworks or Repricer.com.
• Restock Suggestions / Inventory Forecasting
Use sales velocity, time-in-business metrics, and seasonal trends to highlight SKUs that need restocking before they run out.
• Delay Alerts / Escalations
Automatically flag units that have been stuck in engineering or shipping queues beyond a threshold (e.g., 5+ days), alerting managers via email/Slack.
Track time to process each unit – time goods received to time out ready for resale.
• System
Track unit and total value output by business, department, engineer, brand/manufacturer, product category, supplier, purchaser with quality-based metrics included (e.g., returns, time taken, profit etc.)
Detailed Profit & Loss Analysis
• Predictive KPI Monitoring
Use historical data to forecast profit, backlog, and bottlenecks — e.g., "You’re on pace to fall short of your weekly shipping target" or "Expected margin this week is below average."
Zapier Integrations for Order & Workflow Automation, KPI Monitoring & Reporting, Stock & Procurement Triggers, Price Monitoring & Adjustment
PREP WORK SECTION: The following MUST be followed during Phases 1–3 to then enable Phase 4 to then happen easily later and without rework.
Data Schema
Ensure all key event timestamps are captured: goods_in_date, eng_start, eng_complete, ship_date, engineer_id, price_history
Audit Trail
Include price change logs or versioning tables where pricing may change over time
Data Integrity
Normalise data so it can be reliably queried by machine learning tools later
Triggers/Statuses
Define clear status fields for workflow stages so alerts can be generated easily
Tagging/Classification
Capture reason codes or item types to help models understand context (e.g., why an item failed QC)
Batch Metadata
Ensure all sales batches are linkable back to stock, engineer, and margin data (important for training models)

Candidate Requirements
• Proven experience with MySQL database development and migration projects
• Strong familiarity with schema design, keys, indexing, and performance tuning
• Experience using FileMaker Pro (preferred but not essential)
• Ability to work independently with AI-assistance (ChatGPT Copilot, GitHub Copilot, etc.)
• Knowledge of UI frameworks or tools like Retool, Appsmith, Flask, or Django
• Ability to deliver clean, well-documented code and reporting outputs
Strong exposure on ML and automations preferred.
