AI Developer for LegalTech Platform

Job ID: 40392723

Budget: £3,000 – £5,000 GBP

Freelance Software Engineer – Legal Tech Platform (Code Review & Deployment)

We are a boutique law firm. We have built an in-house AI legal intelligence platform and are looking for an experienced freelance software engineer to review the codebase, resolve any weaknesses, and guide us through a clean deployment.

What the engagement involves:
- Code & Architecture Review
- Work through the existing repository with us, identify inefficiencies or security gaps, and refactor where it genuinely adds value. Test coverage should remain intact throughout.

Feature & Logic Amendments:

Where the review surfaces faulty data handling or suboptimal AI routines, patch or rewrite the affected modules to ensure output remains reliable for legal workflows.

Deployment Configuration:

Configure a sensible environment — environment variables, secrets management, containers or virtual machines as appropriate — and document the process so it can be reproduced internally. The CI/CD pipeline is already in place; the pain point is environment setup and configuration.

The stack:

- Python backend with a lightweight React front end
- AI micro-services using Hugging Face models and NLP utilities
- Git, Docker, and cloud deployment (AWS or Azure preferred)

We are open to alternative tooling if you can make a clear case for it.

Deliverables:

- A concise written audit report
- Updated, tested code committed to our repository
- A reproducible deployment script or container definition
- Step-by-step setup documentation

The engagement concludes once everything is confirmed running cleanly on our staging environment.

Who we are looking for:

You will have solid hands-on experience with Python and React, meaningful exposure to AI/ML integrations, and a methodical approach to security and deployment. Prior experience in legal tech or regulated industries is a plus, though not essential. Given the sensitivity of legal data, you will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement before work begins.

Engagement type: Freelance / contract
