Backend Engineer for AI Platform Migration & Security
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Job Title: Backend Engineer — Production Migration, Security Hardening & Ongoing Maintenance Location - Bangalore
About the Engagement:
NxtCurve Intelligence is an early-stage, AI-native workforce intelligence startup based in HSR Layout, Bangalore, building Skill Pramaan (blue/grey-collar verified skill passport, live pilot with 1000+ onboarding employees) and MySiGiL (white-collar skill passport with an AI-driven capability taxonomy). Our current codebase was prototyped on an AI powered coding workspace and now needs to move to a production-grade environment capable of supporting national, and eventually global, scale.
Scope of Work:
Phase 1 — Migration & Understanding (one-time)
Review and fully understand the existing platform-based codebase across our product suite
Design and execute migration to a production hosting environment outside this (AWS/GCP/Azure — your recommendation, with rationale)
Re-architect any Ai platform-specific dependencies that won't hold up outside that environment
Phase 2 — Hardening & Testing (one-time)
Comprehensive testing: functional, load, and security testing before go-live
Harden the application for enterprise-grade security — authentication, data protection, secure API design, credential management
Build for durability and reliability at scale — this platform will eventually serve government/PSU clients (we're in active discussions with Karnataka and other state bodies) and international workers, so security and uptime standards need to reflect that from day one
Phase 3 — Ongoing Monthly Retainer
Monthly troubleshooting and incident response
Continued feature development as the product evolves
Proactive monitoring, patching, and security maintenance
Should scale with us as we move from single-state pilot to multi-state and international deployment
What We're Looking For:
Strong production backend experience — not just prototyping; someone who's taken a system from "it works" to "it's live and load-bearing"
Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization, and CI/CD
Security-first mindset — comfortable with authentication, encryption, secure credential handling, and the basics of building something audit-ready
Python backend fundamentals (FastAPI or equivalent); familiarity with LLM/RAG-based systems is a strong plus given our stack
Startup mindset: independent, communicates clearly, comfortable owning a system end-to-end with a small founding team
Based in Bangalore strongly preferred - periodic in-person syncs expected, especially during the migration phase
Engagement Type: Freelance/contract — Phase 1-2 scoped as a fixed-timeline project; Phase 3 as an ongoing monthly retainer based on performance and fit.
