Project: Children’s Christian Book Series Creation (Young Disciples)
Overview
I am seeking a freelancer to help create a series of children’s Christian books under the series title Young Disciples. These books are designed for children ages 3–6 and will be published through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP).
This project will begin with a paid test trial of 3 books, with the intention to scale to approximately 100 books if the quality, workflow, and pricing are a good fit.
Test Trial Scope (3 Books)
Please provide a quote to create three (3) complete books on the following topics:
• The Life of Jesus
• The Life of Moses
• The Life of King David
Creative Process (AI Allowed)
• You are welcome and encouraged to use AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Grok, Midjourney, DALL·E, or similar) to:
o Draft the story content
o Create all illustrations
• You are responsible for:
o Ensuring all content is original
o Ensuring text and images are appropriate for ages 3–6
o Delivering polished, professional, KDP-ready files
Illustration Style Requirements
• Illustrations should be in a high-quality, cinematic animated style
• Inspired by the look and feel of modern Disney/Pixar-style animation, including:
o Warm lighting
o Expressive characters
o Soft, colorful, storybook-friendly visuals
• Artwork must be original and not replicate or copy any existing copyrighted characters or scenes
• The goal is an inspiring, whimsical, emotionally engaging animated-movie aesthetic suitable for young children
Book Content Requirements
• Approximately 1,000 words per book
• Written in a simple, engaging, child-friendly tone
• Faith-based storytelling suitable for Christian families
• Consistent style with the Young Disciples series
• I have attached a reference example book (Sir Isaac Newton) to demonstrate:
o Writing style
o Page layout
o Illustration quality
o Overall presentation
Formatting & Print Specifications (Must Follow Exactly)
Books must be formatted to the following Amazon KDP paperback specifications:
Interior
• Trim size: 8.5” x 8.5”
• Page count (test books): 30 pages
• Interior type: Premium Color
• Paper type: White
• Reading direction: Left to Right
Cover
• Full cover size (front + back + spine): 17.32” x 8.75”
• Front cover: 8.5” x 8.5”
• Spine width: 0.07”
• Bleed: 0.125”
• Margins: 0.125”
• Barcode margin: 0.25”
• Safe area: 8.375” x 8.25”
• Spine safe area height: 8.25”
All files must strictly comply with Amazon KDP print requirements.
Required Deliverables (Per Book)
Each book must zipped into one file which includes three (3) final deliverables, plus editable source files:
1. Cover PDF
o Front cover and back cover on one single page
o Fully formatted using the dimensions listed above
o Ready for KDP upload
2. Interior PDF
o Fully formatted interior for 8.5” x 8.5”
o First page must include a creative:
“This book belongs to: ______” page
o Remaining pages contain the full story and illustrations
o Ready for KDP upload
3. KDP Listing Document (Text Only)
o Separate document containing:
Book title
Book description
o Written for Christian parents seeking:
Faith-based values
High-quality educational content
Parents with children ages 3-6 years old living in North America.
o Ready to copy and paste into Amazon KDP
Editable Source Files (Required)
In addition to the PDFs, you must also provide:
• All editable Word files used for text and layout
• All original image files used for illustrations and covers
• Any source or layout files needed so I can:
o Make grammar edits
o Adjust wording
o Make minor layout or content changes independently
