Build a WhatsApp AI Personal Assistant MVP (Memory + Reminders + Meal/Budget + Guardrails

Job ID: 40212162

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

We are building an MVP of a WhatsApp-based AI Personal Assistant for single mothers to reduce daily mental load. The assistant will work entirely through WhatsApp chat (no mobile app). It should feel like a practical personal assistant / family operations manager: reminders, weekly planning, school admin help, groceries/recipes, and budget monitoring.

Strict boundaries: The assistant must NOT provide legal guidance (custody/court/rights strategy) and must NOT provide sexual guidance/content. It can help with calm message drafting and general admin support only.

We need a freelancer to deliver a working MVP for 5–10 pilot users.

Key MVP Features (Scope)
1) WhatsApp Bot Setup

Connect WhatsApp number via WhatsApp Cloud API or a provider (Twilio/360dialog/etc.).

Support inbound/outbound messaging and scheduled messages (reminders + weekly digest).

2) Onboarding + Family Profile Memory (Structured)

Create a structured profile for each user (stored in DB such as Airtable/Firestore/Postgres/Google Sheet—your suggestion accepted):

Mother: name, preferred tone, food preferences/dislikes/allergies, weekly budget targets, schedule constraints.

Kids: names, ages, birthdays, likes/dislikes, allergies, school/club schedule.

Household: preferred shops, staples list, key dates/events, documents checklist + renewal dates.

Car admin: MOT/tax/insurance/service dates (optional fields).

User control commands required:

“Show what you remember about us”

“Edit profile” / “Forget X”

“Pause reminders”

“Delete my data”

Memory should have two layers:

Long-term profile facts (structured, saved intentionally)

Short-term context (recent week context summarised for better responses)

3) Reminders + Daily/Weekly Digests

Set reminders: school pickups, PE days, clubs, appointments, deadlines.

Optional daily “Today Card” message.

Weekly “Sunday Reset” digest: priorities, events, prep list, budget plan, renewals.

4) School Admin Assistant

User pastes school letter/email text → bot returns action list + deadlines.

Draft teacher messages: absence, late pickup, questions, requests.

5) Meal Planning + Recipes (Personalised)

Weekly meal plan + shopping list based on preferences + budget.

“What’s in the fridge” mode:

user lists ingredients → bot suggests 2–3 meal options + minimal-buy suggestions + leftover plan.

Simple inventory lists: Fridge/Freezer/Pantry updated by text (“Add eggs”, “Remove milk”).

6) Budget Monitoring (Simple Logging)

Weekly budgets (groceries/transport/kids activities).

Quick spend logging by message (“Spent £12.40 Aldi”).

Weekly report: spent vs plan + remaining + suggested swaps.

7) Co-Parent Message Drafting (Non-Legal)

Draft calm, factual pickup/schedule messages in selectable styles: neutral / friendly-firm / formal.

“Rewrite to calm” for a user’s draft message.

Must refuse anything legal-strategy related and redirect to logistics-only drafting.

8) Vent-to-Actions Mode (Operational, Not Therapy)

User can “vent” → bot responds with:

short summary

what matters today vs later

1–3 next actions

optional drafts (teacher/co-parent)

9) Safety Guardrails & Refusals

Strong policy layer: refuse legal advice and sexual content.

Safe redirect responses (e.g., “I can’t help with legal advice, but I can help you draft a calm message about pickup time.”).

Include a basic crisis signposting message for safety concerns (non-counselling)
