Project Title: Illustrator for 50-Page STEM & Aerospace Coloring Book
(Mythical Lore & Technical Diagrams)
Project Overview
I am seeking a talented illustrator to create a 50-page coloring book titled "WOWLS! STEM Aerospace Coloring Book with Space Race Vocabulary & Terminology."
The book features the WOWLS—a mythical hybrid creature with the face, body, and four legs of a wolf, combined with majestic owl wings and a unique hybrid wolf-owl tail.
The project bridges fantasy lore with real-world aerospace science, requiring a balance of character art and technical schematic-style drawings.
Scope of Work
50 Original Illustrations: High-quality, black-and-white line art optimized for coloring.
*You can use AI to generate these images based on the specifications I give. I don't expect you to handdraw 50 WOWLS illustrations - You can be assisted by AI.
Character Anatomy: Consistent depiction of the WOWLS anatomy, including their predatory agility and stabilized rudder tails used for aerial maneuvers.
Technical STEM Elements: Illustrations must include aerospace technology such as Scramjets, Rotating Detonation Rocket Engines (RDRE), Saturn V rockets, and Lunar Mass Drivers. These are attached to the back of WOWLS!
Lore Integration: Scenes depicting the WOWLS as "Galactic Nomads" and disruptors, often shown alongside advanced space infrastructure or in conflict with "Corporate Unicorns".
*This is a story about how the WOWLS have emerged from their subteranean caverns to compete with ALL the unicorns - That means big tech companies.
Educational Components: Integration of vocabulary terms (e.g., Delta-V, Karman Line, Regolith Sintering) into the visual compositions. You can find some vocabulary terms at https://wowls.lovable.app/wiki/vocabulary and copy/paste them into the ebook.
Key Visual Requirements
Style: Clean, bold black-and-white vector-style lines. No grayscale or shading.
Themes: Atmospheric flight, Lunar colonization (PSRs and regolith bases), and Deep Space propulsion (Pulsed Fission-Fusion).
Dynamic Action: WOWLS in flight, often integrated with tech (e.g., scramjet engines strapped to their backs).
Deliverables
A Google doc with all the images and text embedded that I can easily edit and turn into a PDF to sell.
Source files (Google Docs with embedded JPGs or PNGs) preferred.
Commercial rights for print-on-demand and digital sale (PDF).
Ideal Candidate
Experience in scientific or technical illustration.
Strong character design skills (specifically chimeras/hybrids).
Ability to follow a specific "Cyber-Nomad" and "Khan-Core" aesthetic that merges Central Asian iconography with futuristic technology.
Please provide a portfolio sample that showcases your ability to draw clean line art and/or mechanical/aerospace subjects.
The basis of the story is here:

I want to sell merch around this theme and I want the eBook to be educational and high quality.
WOWLS!: The Urban Legend
The year was 1979. Urban legend holds that a team of Soviet engineers on a government sponsored scientific drilling expedition, purportedly led by an individual named "Mr. Azakov", drilled in an unnamed place in Southern Siberia near Lake Baikal.
Their goals were seismic study and resource extraction.
Deep Water! Liquid water was found at unexpected depths, likely squeezed out of rock crystals by extreme pressure and trapped by impermeable rock. They eventually drilled a hole that was 14.4 km (9 miles) deep before breaking through to a cavity.
Intrigued by this unexpected seismology discovery, they lowered an extremely heat-tolerant microphone, along with other sensory equipment, into the well. The temperature within these superdeep boreholes was 1,000 °C (1,800 °F), heat from a chamber of fire from which they thought screaming could be heard.
The Scientists Thought it Was The Screaming of The Damned in Hell!
Actually though, it was the WOWLS! Yipping and Barking and Howling… Awaiting the time when they would emerge from their secret subterranean caverns to compete for fame and glory with their long term rivals – The Unicorns.
Now today in the 21st century the WOWLS have finally emerged and are ready to take on the Unicorns!
