Altimeter -Timer (operates and functions through both barometric- and accelerometer )

Job ID: 40469221

Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD

I am building a barometric- and accelerometer-based flight controller for hobbyist in rocketry and, need a skilled engineer / programmer to take it from concept to a solid product. The core will be an ESP32 that samples a pressure sensor and an IMU, fuses the data, and streams it over Bluetooth LE.

The companion app must run on both iOS and Android. Through the phone users will pre-arm the device, monitor live altitude and speed, and receive clear safety warnings and alerts before and during flight. Configuration changes entered in the app should sync to on-board flash so the unit can fly autonomously once armed.

Reliability is crucial: watchdogs, brown-out protection, redundant deployment triggers, and CRC-checked over-the-air updates are all expected. The interface must be so intuitive that a first-time rocketeer feels confident using it.

Deliverables
• Documented ESP32 firmware with build instructions
• Schematic and PCB files ready for fabrication
• Dual-platform mobile app (iOS and Android) prepared for TestFlight and internal Play Store release
• Test plan plus ground-test data demonstrating sensor fusion accuracy and alert handling

Acceptance criteria
• Altitude error within ±5 m up to 3 km
• Phone-to-device telemetry latency under 200 ms
• No watchdog resets during an 8-hour burn-in
• App passes App Store and Play Console pre-checks

If you have hands-on experience with sensor fusion, BLE GATT design, and user-friendly mobile interfaces, I would like to work with you.
