Minimalist Surveillance Projection Mapping
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m developing a site-specific projection for an upcoming gallery installation and need a 2–3 minute video that explores the theme of Surveillance through a clean, minimalist lens. The piece will be mapped onto a building facade, so every frame has to respect the contours, windows, ledges, and ambient light of that exterior surface. No busy textures or over-crowded compositions—negative space and restrained motion should do the talking, underscoring the quiet tension of being watched.
Here’s the creative framework I have in mind: the narrative unfolds in subtle pulses of light that trace the outline of CCTV sightlines, infrared grids, and data packets flowing across the walls. Instead of literal cameras, geometric shapes glide over the architecture, occasionally locking into place as if “focusing” on passers-by. The colour palette stays muted—mostly monochrome with a single accent hue that spikes at key moments to evoke alert status. Sound design isn’t required, but timing cues for a potential ambient track would be helpful.
Because the work is destined for a public facade, I’ll supply facade photos, elevation drawings, and measurements. You’ll supply a final 1920×1080 (or higher, if feasible) H.264 or ProRes video plus the mapping file compatible with MadMapper or Resolume Arena so I can align it on-site. Alongside the visuals, I need a written concept description—minimum 300 words—that articulates the artistic rationale, references, and how the visuals converse with the physical space. Originality is absolutely critical; the gallery requires assurance the imagery is bespoke and free of stock footage.
Acceptance criteria:
• Video length between 2:00 and 3:00 minutes
• Clearly readable on the provided building template with all key elements landing on intended architectural features
• Minimalist aesthetic consistent throughout; no realistic character footage
• Written concept (300+ words) delivered in Word or PDF
• All files delivered at least three days before install to allow onsite testing
If you’re comfortable working in After Effects, Cinema 4D, TouchDesigner, or similar, and have previous facade-mapping experience, this should be a smooth collaboration. I’ll be available for rapid feedback rounds and can run quick test projections each evening. Let’s craft a piece that lets the architecture itself whisper, “You are being watched.”
