Optimize 9-Inch Drone Propeller
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’ve created a 9-inch plastic propeller for a 6 S UAV (900–1050 KV range) and now need an aerodynamic specialist to push its efficiency further without sacrificing the thrust and strength I already have.
What I need from you
My priority is propeller efficiency, so your work should centre on a CFD-based evaluation of the current geometry. Use the simulation results to pinpoint losses—tip vortices, profile drag and any other contributors—then reshape the blade (air-foil section, pitch distribution, twist, tip treatment) to recover that wasted energy. A short aerodynamic report that explains the findings and your optimisation logic is essential; a refreshed CAD file is a welcome bonus if the geometry changes warrant it.
Deliverables
• CFD analysis set-up and results (plots, key figures)
• Written recommendations detailing design changes and the expected efficiency gain
• Optional: updated CAD model reflecting the new blade geometry
Acceptance
I’ll consider the job complete once I can reproduce the CFD numbers you provide and the revised propeller shows a clear efficiency improvement in the simulation while holding thrust and structural margins fairly constant.
If you have a proven background in propeller aerodynamics and the software licences to run CFD on small rotating machinery, let’s talk.
