Hand-Calc Fuselage Bending Analysis
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I need a thorough, textbook-style structural assessment of a circular aircraft fuselage section subjected to a transverse bending load. All work has to be carried out by hand, following classical aerospace methods rather than finite-element software.
The study will move from cross-section idealisation through to the final stability checks: you will determine the geometric properties of the idealised ring-and-stringer section, derive bending moments, map the direct stress distribution around the skin, and then evaluate three separate failure modes—local skin buckling, stringer column buckling, and overall bending instability. Please show every assumption, equation, and step so the logic is fully traceable for peer review.
Deliverables
• A polished technical report (Word or PDF) that walks through the complete derivation, annotated calculations, engineering interpretation, and clear conclusions.
• A concise slide deck ready for management-level presentation, highlighting methodology, key results, safety margins, and recommendations.
Acceptance criteria
• All calculations performed manually and legible.
• Use recognised classical aerospace references for formulae.
• Results must be internally consistent and physically reasonable; I will spot-check governing equations and margins.
• Both documents submitted in native and PDF formats.
If this hand-calculated, classical approach to circular fuselage bending analysis is in your wheelhouse, I look forward to seeing your methodical, well-documented solution.
