CFD Analysis of Axial Flow Compressor with Ansys CFX

Job ID: 39107592

Budget: €30 – €250 EUR

Project Overview:
We are looking for an ANSYS CFX expert to conduct an advanced two-phase fluid flow simulation analyzing the impact of water ingestion on axial flow compressor degradation. The simulation will focus on a turbofan engines' first-stage axial compressor, specifically the Inlet Guide Vanes (IGV), Rotor, and Stator configuration.

Scope of Work:
The selected freelancer will:
1) Perform a full CFD simulation in ANSYS CFX 19.2, ensuring accurate meshing, setup, solution, and post-processing.
2) Analyze water droplet effects on mass accumulation and aerodynamic degradation.
3) Provide high-quality visualizations and a structured technical report summarizing key findings.
The CAD model has already been developed using ANSYS BladeGen within a single ANSYS Workbench directory and consists of three key components:
- Inlet Guide Vanes (IGV)
- Rotor
- Stator

Ideal Candidate Should Have:
a) Demonstrated expertise in ANSYS CFX, with a focus on two-phase/multiphase flow modeling.
b) Strong background in compressor aerodynamics, particularly in axial flow compressors (operation & configuration).
c) Ability to generate clear, high-quality plots, contour maps, and visualizations.
d) Experience with post-processing techniques to extract detailed insights from simulation data.

Deliverables & Milestones:
Deliverable & Milestone Payment
- Full CFD simulation (meshing, setup, solution, and post-processing) with
convergence criteria of 10⁻⁵ (continuity) and 10⁻⁶ (momentum). 25%
- Analysis of water droplet speed and its effect on mass build-up on the
blades(IGV-Rotor-Stator). 20%
- Study of different droplet sizes and their impact on mass accumulation
over the blades(IGV-Rotor-Stator). 20%
- Evaluation of mass build-up effects on the compressor operating line

- Final results presented in clear, high-quality figures, contour maps, and
a structured technical report (10–15 pages). 10%

Expectations:
- The freelancer must ensure a fully converged simulation without errors.
- Results must include quantitative metrics, validation checks, and sensitivity analysis where applicable.
- Regular updates and clear communication are expected throughout the project.
If you have the expertise to deliver high-quality CFD simulations, we invite you to place a bid. Looking forward to collaborating with a skilled professional!
