Overview
RFP is requested for Parcel Delivery System which is an advanced computer system used to provide parcel delivery service in a modern and easy to use manner. Suppliers are invited to submit competitive bids for this project.
Parcel Delivery
The proposed system must take advantage of modern technologies available nowadays in smart phones, such as mobile apps, GPS and high-speed Internet connection to facilitate the use and interaction with the system. Basically it consists of two major components:
1. Web-based main computer system which represents the corebusiness.
2. Mobile application that is used as a user interface. Users such as Management, Sender, Consignee, and the Driver use this smart UI to request the delivery service, package, and track and deliver it to the finalconsignee.
The proposed system must inform the user from the beginning about the cost of delivery and the expected time of arrival, with the ability to follow up parceluntil delivery.
Parcel Packaging and Handling
The proposed system must be designed to deal with specific types of parcels taking into account the potential risks parcel may face during transportation. On the other hand the packaging process must check first to make sure that parcel types requested are supported by the proposed system and warn the sender if the requested parcel type is not supported. This is very important since the proposed system will have no packaging engineering staff to provide packing instructions, nor packaging design services and testing.
Future support of Smart Parcel Delivery Boxes
Smart centrifuge delivery terminals have increased in popularity in developed countries, allowing delivery of a variety of different parcel sizes in one unit. This technology allows recipients to book a parcel box for expected delivery, and management personnel review and manage the use of parcel boxes and delivery companies to quickly deposit items. The proposed system must have a room for this great feature to be supported later on.
