Short‑Form Studio Vlog Editor Competition – 1 TikTok/Reels Test Video
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Overview
I’m an independent R&B/soul artist looking for a long‑term short‑form editor. This project is a competition to find that editor.
You will edit one (1) vertical “Studio Story” video (45–75 sec) from my real studio session footage. I’ll provide raw files + song. I will award the project to the best overall edit and then discuss ongoing full-time monthly work with that freelancer.
What you’ll receive:
- A folder of raw studio session clips (same session, multiple angles)
- The master track or song section we’re working on
Your deliverable:
- 1 video, 45–75 seconds, 9:16 (TikTok / Reels / Shorts)
- Export as MP4, 1080x1920
- File name: KR_StudioStory_Test_[YourName].mp4
- Editing style required (“Studio Story / Sandwich Edit”)
I’m not looking for random chops. I’m looking for a short episode that feels like a music video + vlog + inside joke. Your edit MUST include:
- Strong opening hook (first 3 seconds)
Use any mix of:
• Visual: an instantly interesting or emotional moment
• Audio: a lyric, line, or sound that makes you lean in
• Text: a short line in English that explains what's happening in a way that get's people curious
• The goal is for the viewer to immediately understand the context (we’re in the studio making a song) and feel curious enough to keep watching.
• Non‑negotiable: if I mute or cover the video after 3 seconds, it should be obvious you tried to hook me on purpose.
- Music‑driven vibe section – beat‑matched cuts and clean lip‑sync to the master while showing talent and studio vibe.
- At least one hard pattern interrupt – aggressively cut or duck the music so we hear raw camera audio for a joke / mistake / honest moment. It should feel like a “record scratch” that wakes the viewer up.
- Return to the song on‑beat – slide back into “music video mode” smoothly.
- Relatable human/blooper moment – laughter, spicy lyric reaction, or something that feels like an inside joke; add captions so the banter is easy to follow.
- Simple CTA at the end – on‑screen text tied to the song (listen, pre‑save, DM keyword, etc.), readable before the loop.
How to participate:
- Use the Drive files below and create a video matching the total requirements in this description.

Scoring criteria:
- Hook & clarity of story
- Musicality & pacing (beat, lip‑sync)
- Use of pattern interrupts (music/silence)
- Personality & relatability
- Overall polish + platform‑native feel
Prize & ongoing work:
I will award this project to the best video (contest winner) and pay the full project amount.
I may also message 1–2 runners‑up about future paid work if your style fits.
If you love making artists look human, funny, and powerful in 60 seconds, this is for you.
