Reportage Documentary on Rights Violations
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I want to professionally share the ordeal my daughter and I have endured in Mogadishu—arbitrary prosecutions, harassment, the loss of everything we own—and I believe a news-style video documentary is the most powerful way to do it. I need someone who can approach this as a piece of serious, investigative reportage: fact-checked, visually engaging, and ready for broadcast or online release.
You would work with me to structure the story, gather or guide the collection of supporting footage (interviews, location B-roll, legal documents, photos), craft a concise script, and handle all editing, voice-over, lower-thirds and English subtitles. Accuracy and sensitivity are critical; the film must present verifiable information yet remain accessible to an international audience unfamiliar with Somalia’s current human-rights climate.
Deliverables
• Two-page treatment outlining storyline, key scenes and interview questions
• Rough cut for review (with time-coded notes for feedback)
• Final 8–15-minute news-reportage documentary, full-HD or higher, broadcast-ready audio mix, burned-in English subtitles
• Separate file pack: clean master, subtitle file (SRT), thumbnail image, short synopsis
I am available for recorded interviews via secure video calls and can provide documents and photos that corroborate each incident. If on-location shooting in Mogadishu is impossible for you, suggest workable remote or local-crew solutions. Experience with human-rights topics, investigative journalism tools like Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, and a demonstrated ethical approach are musts.
