Lotus Pictures is seeking a highly motivated and creative Junior Editor to join our NYC-based post-production team. This role is designed for a strategic storyteller who can go beyond technical assembly to enhance our content through critical thinking and artistic vision. As a Junior Editor, you will be responsible for translating creative intent into seamless visual narratives across a diverse range of projects, including corporate videos, promos, sizzle reels, testimonials, and commercials.


Key Responsibilities
Creative Editing & Storytelling: Drive the editorial process by making informed creative decisions that align with project goals. You must demonstrate the ability to independently analyze raw footage and synthesize it into a compelling story that integrates visuals with intent.
Motion Graphics Integration: Knowledge of After Effects to create and integrate basic motion graphics, including title sequences and graphic overlays ensuring they complement the editorial pace.
Creative Execution: Integrate motion graphics based on provided elements (toolkits, video assets, guidelines, creative direction), producing graphic overlays, title sequences, end pages, and more.
Brand Compliance: Maintain consistency, follow naming conventions, and adhere to client/agency brand guidelines.
Project Leadership: Organizing and managing complex remote video projects and digital media workflows.
Technical Quality Control: Audit freelancer project files to ensure all assets are properly linked and functional, while maintaining a rigorous standard for final exports and technical delivery.
Asset & Database Management: Oversee the complete lifecycle of project assets, from initial ingest and Dropbox file management to final project archiving and the maintenance of our Client Finals database.
Problem Solving: Proactively identify and troubleshoot technical issues within the post-production pipeline to ensure projects meet tight deadlines under pressure.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in editing and motion graphics within a fast-paced environment.
Software Mastery: Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop is required.
Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of video codecs, resolutions, frame rates, and file transfer platforms such as Dropbox and FileZilla.
Creative Aptitude: A proven track record of using critical thinking to solve narrative challenges and a portfolio that demonstrates a sophisticated eye for design and pacing.
Operational Excellence: Strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask effectively, and proficiency in Google Docs and Sheets for project tracking.
Technical Proficiency: Extensive knowledge of Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop), Google Docs, Sheets, video codecs, resolutions, and frame rates.
Soft Skills: Demonstrated ability to be flexible, multitask, and work well under pressure with high attention to detail.
Position Details
Location: Remote (Candidate must be available to work East Coast hours).
Equipment: Must have a personal laptop or desktop capable of handling high-end video production and a reliable high-speed internet connection (Mac users preferred).
