Journalistic Documentary Series Editor
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I’m in the thick of post-production on an eight-part documentary-reality series shot over several years in some of the most remote and volatile corners of the planet. Politics, culture, humanity and travel collide in every scene, and I now need a seasoned editor who thrives in a journalistic style to help shape the footage into compelling, broadcast-ready episodes.
You’ll be diving into terabytes of multi-camera interviews, vérité footage and on-the-ground reportage, all organised for Adobe Premiere Pro. Together, we’ll refine story arcs, tighten pacing, balance tone and make sure each cut lands with equal parts emotional weight and visual polish. Because each episode must inform like a newsroom piece yet feel immersive, I put equal priority on storytelling, narrative clarity, pristine audio-visual quality and sustained audience engagement.
This project still has roughly a year of post ahead, and I’m looking for a creative partner who can commit for several months at a minimum. Daily check-ins, transparent progress updates and collaborative problem-solving are non-negotiable: I’m in the edit suite every day and expect to work side-by-side virtually.
Deliverables
• Final picture-locked cuts for 8 episodes (approx. 45 min each)
• A 90-second series trailer and 15-second teasers for social media
• Clean, well-labelled project files and media management within Premiere Pro
• Versioned exports suitable for colour, sound mix and captioning pipelines
Acceptance criteria
An episode is approved when it:
1. Holds narrative continuity without factual drift.
2. Meets network loudness/spec standards and passes a QC spot-check.
3. Sustains emotional engagement through pacing, score placement and dynamic range.
4. Arrives on or before the mutually agreed milestone date.
If you excel at crafting factual stories, communicate proactively and enjoy pushing yourself past the obvious cut, let’s talk.
