Fast-Paced Short Film Editor
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I’ve wrapped principal photography on a short film that lives or dies on its momentum, so the edit has to punch hard, stay lean, and keep viewers locked in from frame one. I’m looking for one person who can take the raw footage all the way to a polished final cut while weaving in VFX that feel organic to the story rather than layered on top.
Here’s what the job actually looks like from my side:
• Editing style: distinctly fast-paced—think tight cuts, energetic transitions, and rhythm that mirrors the onscreen action.
• Must-have VFX elements:
– Explosions
– Magical effects
– Environmental effects
• Footage: 4K ProRes; multi-camera in a few scenes; clean production audio already synced.
• Platforms & tools: I’m agnostic, but I’ll need project files as well as a high-quality master (ProRes HQ or similar). If you work in Adobe Premiere + After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or another robust pipeline, that’s fine—just be ready to hand over the editable timeline.
• Sound: a basic pass on sound design and balanced levels is ideal; I have a composer standing by for the final score.
• Color: a cohesive grade that matches the tone of the story (dark, slightly gritty, but with saturated magical moments) will round it out.
What will help you stand out is proof of experience—links or brief notes on similar action-heavy or VFX-driven pieces you’ve cut. If you can highlight a sequence where you blended practical footage with digital explosions or conjured atmosphere through environmental effects, I’ll know you’re the right fit.
I’m ready to start as soon as I find the right editor, and I can be responsive with notes. Let’s bring this film to life.
