Engaging Retention-Optimized Video Editing
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I run an educational, talking-head channel and need each episode to hold viewers from the first second to the last. The raw footage is already recorded; what I’m missing is dynamic, retention-focused polish. Every video should feel upbeat and energetic, with lively pacing that supports the information I’m sharing.
Here’s what I expect in the final cut:
• Pop-up text and motion graphics that highlight key terms or statistics at the exact moment they’re mentioned.
• Well-timed sound effects that add energy without distracting from my voice.
• Relevant, high-quality B-roll or stock inserts to illustrate concepts and break up static shots.
Smooth jump-cuts, background music that complements the tone, and tight color correction are also part of the workflow. I typically edit in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, so project files compatible with those programs are ideal; if you prefer DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut, just deliver export settings that preserve quality for 4K YouTube upload.
Turnaround per episode is five days once I supply the footage. The finished package should include:
1. The mastered 4K video (MP4, H.264).
2. The editable project file with all media properly linked.
3. Any custom graphic templates you create so we can reuse them across the channel.
If your editing style keeps viewers engaged and learning, we’ll roll this into a long-term collaboration.
