Edit Cinematic Fish Documentary

Job ID: 40050773

Budget: $250 – $600 USD

I have already captured every shot for a 4–6-minute short documentary that follows a single fish’s journey through New York City and, ultimately, Dorian’s Seafood Market in my neighborhood. The footage is varied—golden-hour skyline and Hudson River views, workers rolling up at dawn to unload crates of ice, intimate interior angles of the market, a complete filleting sequence, a concise owner interview, and a quick self-recorded piece to camera.

Now I need a polished, refined edit that stitches these moments into one cohesive, atmospheric story. The structure I want is clear: NYC morning → my voiceover intro → market visuals → a brief dip into the interview → filleting crescendo → reflective close. Think of it as mostly B-roll driven, with on-screen text used sparingly for context, and a soundtrack that leans melancholic and reflective without overpowering the natural ambience—ice scraping, knives rhythmically hitting the board, the low murmur of the city outside.

Key elements to bring forward:
• Atmospheric visuals through meticulous shot selection, smooth pacing, and tasteful color work.
• Natural sound design—layer, clean, and balance the real-world textures so they sit comfortably with the VO.
• Narrative voiceover—help me weave my recorded narration seamlessly through the piece, ducking ambience or interview audio when necessary for clarity.

I’m happy for you to work in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut—whatever lets you deliver a 4K master plus a high-quality h.264 export. Subtle motion graphics or simple lower-thirds created in After Effects are welcome if that’s your workflow, but keep them understated.

Acceptance criteria:
1. Final runtime between 7 and 10 minutes
2. Color-graded footage that preserves a documentary feel—no heavy stylized LUTs unless they enhance the narrative subtly.
3. Balanced mix: dialogue at a consistent level, ambience clear, music supporting a melancholic, reflective tone, peaks below –1 dB.
4. Clean embedded captions or minimal titles exactly where context is needed (names, location, or transitional text).
5. Two rounds of reasonable revisions on edit, sound, and color.
