Selective Background Blur Editing

I have a set of photos that need their existing environments toned down so the main subjects stand out. The job is purely about replacing the current backdrop with a blurred treatment—however, I do not want a uniform blur. Only certain areas of the background should be softened while other zones remain recognisable, giving the images a subtle depth-of-field effect without losing context.
What I will supply: the original high-resolution files and simple notes on which parts of each frame must stay sharp versus which can fade.
What I expect back: print-ready JPEGs and layered PSDs (or TIFFs) with the partial-blur mask intact, sized exactly as received, colour profile unchanged, and no compression artefacts. Please work non-destructively—Smart Objects or equivalent—so I can tweak if needed later.
