Scale Bar Integration for Thesis Images

Job ID: 40158278

Budget: €8 – €30 EUR

My engineering PhD thesis contains a series of SEM photo-based figures that need precise scale bars before final submission. Some of these images already come with exact dimensions; for the rest, I will supply reference measurements (pixel counts, object dimensions, or microscope calibration data) so the correct bar length can be calculated.

What I need from you
• Edit each image to include a clean, clearly legible scale bar positioned unobtrusively yet visibly.
• Return high-resolution files in the same format and size as received (PNG, TIFF, or JPEG), plus an editable version if you work in Illustrator, Inkscape, or similar.
• Provide a brief note listing the bar length used for every figure and the calculation or reference behind it whenever I did not provide the exact dimension.

Acceptance criteria
• Every scale bar must represent the stated length within ±1 % accuracy when measured against the pixel scale.
• Typography, colour, and placement must be consistent across all figures and not obstruct key data.
• Final images should be publication-ready and pass a quick recheck in Adobe Acrobat and MS Word without resolution loss.

There are seven images (six a collage of 6 images in each image and one with a collage of 8 images), and I can share them via a secure cloud link as soon as we agree on the workflow. Familiarity with image-editing tools that allow precise scaling (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, GIMP, or Affinity Photo) will make the job straightforward. If anything is unclear, feel free to pinpoint it, and I’ll supply the missing calibration details right away. I have attached an example of the scale bars.
