Realistic Nursery Rhymes Picture Book

I am assembling a small, high-quality nursery-rhymes picture book aimed at children aged 3-5 years. The manuscript will contain between five and ten classic rhymes; what I need now is the visual magic that turns those words into an engaging reading experience.

The illustrations must be realistic rather than cartoonish or abstract. Think gentle, lifelike characters, warm colours and detailed backgrounds that hold a preschooler’s attention without overwhelming the page. Every rhyme will have at least one full-page illustration, plus spot art or decorative elements as needed to create a cohesive flow throughout the book.

You will handle the complete visual package—from initial concept sketches through final print-ready files—so familiarity with standard publishing specs (CMYK, 300 dpi, bleed/margin guidelines) is essential. Adobe Photoshop, Procreate or similar professional tools are fine as long as the final artwork is delivered in layered PSD or TIFF as well as flattened PDF for press.

Deliverables
• 5-10 full-page, realistic, colour illustrations (one per rhyme)
• Coordinated spot graphics or borders where appropriate
• Front cover and back cover artwork that match the interior style
• Print-ready PDF and separate high-resolution image files for each illustration

I review each stage—rough thumbnails, detailed sketches, colour proofs—before giving the green light to proceed, ensuring we keep the tone age-appropriate and the visual storytelling consistent. When finished, the book should feel timeless, inviting young readers to linger on every page while parents enjoy the fine detail.
