WHMIS-Compliant Industrial Label Design
Budget: $30 – $250 CAD
I need a complete set of eight (8) industrial chemical product labels created for cleaning products being imported and sold in Canada. These labels must be professionally designed and fully aligned with Canadian WHMIS 2015 / GHS labelling requirements.
The project includes creating all designs from the ground up — layout, structure, icon placement, colour system, typography, and final print-ready artwork.
Your primary responsibility
Deliver labels that are visually clean, easy to read, and fully compliant with all mandatory WHMIS elements. This includes allocating space and structure for:
• Correct pictograms
• Signal words (e.g., Danger, Warning)
• Hazard statements (H-statements)
• Precautionary statements (P-statements)
• First aid and storage information
• Supplier information
• Product identifiers
I will supply all SDS data and required text once the project starts, but the design must already support every WHMIS-mandated section in a clean and organized layout.
Label Formats
You will be designing for:
• 4-litre HDPE jerrycans
• 20-litre pails / drums
• Secondary container sizes (as required)
Each label must follow a consistent brand look while still maintaining safety-first layout hierarchy.
Preferred Tools & Workflow
• Adobe Illustrator or InDesign only
• Editable master files required
• CMYK workflow for economical production
• Spot colours allowed for WHMIS pictograms if needed
Deliverables
For all 8 products, provide:
• Print-ready PDF files (with bleeds and crop marks)
• Layered .AI or .INDD source files (fonts + links included)
• A mini style guide outlining:
• Typography system
• Colour palette (CMYK/spot)
• WHMIS pictogram usage
• Label grid/layout system
Completion Criteria
The project is complete when all 8 labels:
• Pass a WHMIS/GHS compliance checklist (provided)
• Are approved for printing
• Have consistent professional branding and layout
