Traditional Kendo Tenugui Design

Job ID: 40526974

Budget: $50 – $100 USD

I’m commissioning a single-color, traditionally inspired illustration for a Kendo tenugui (approx. 35 cm × 90 cm). The cloth will be screen-printed in a classic indigo-on-white monochrome, so every line must read cleanly when reproduced on cotton.

The core of the composition is the calligraphic phrase 「日々是好日」. I’d like the characters rendered in an expressive yet readable hand, integrated with understated line art of a chawan, chasen, and chashaku to evoke the calm ritual of tea. Think timeless rather than trendy: balanced negative space, motifs that would feel at home in a dōjō or a tearoom, and an overall flow that sits comfortably when the cloth is wrapped under a men.

To make production straightforward, I’ll need:

• Print-ready vector artwork (AI or EPS) at actual size
• A high-res PDF and a PNG mock-up for quick review
• Up to two minor revision rounds after the first draft

The design should arrive ready for one-color screen printing—no gradients, half-tones, or overprinting. If you’re familiar with traditional Japanese brush style or have past tenugui or furoshiki work to show, please mention it; it will help me gauge fit quickly.

I look forward to seeing how you blend the tea utensils and calligraphy into a piece that feels both disciplined and serene.
