Traditional Fleur-de-Lis Design for Software UI
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I seek an experienced Adobe Illustrator user, to create a fleur-de-lis symbol. It will be delivered as an .ai file, and subsequently my team will convert it into XAML and then use it on a window frame in a windows app on PCs. See attached graphic. Image A is the existing frame. Image B is a possible example to show where it will be used, between the peaks on the top bar.
I gave this job to one freelancer, and received image C, but it turned out to be unusable because it used a 3D mesh, and created image E in XAML which is thousands of little rectangles and 6800 lines of XAML
code, which is far too big.
So I want it redone using simpler 2D layers, stacked one above the other. The outlines to be made with hand-fitted bezier curves, not automated. The overall color is black, but it needs a white thin outline (like on image C), so that it can be distinguished from the horizontal bars behind it.
To imagine a lighting and shadow effect, imagine diffuse light shining down from above the window. The fleur-de-lis can either have a rounded shape or a faceted shape, but I prefer rounded, so I suggest applying a 2D layer of dark grey, onto the upper half of the black where sunlight would strike a rounded shape, and then add layers with some smaller lighter areas to give a glossy effect, at appropriate places.

The fleur-de-lis symbol has a central ring, so give shading and glossy effect onto it. In symbolism, energy flow goes upward from that ring, and some goes straight up, some curves into spirals. Another flow goes downward from the ring, and the lower part is supposed to be similar but smaller than the upper outflow. They are energy flows with different attributes, higher-density/etheric energy goes downward, our-reality energy goes upward.
I did not like the first freelancers shape given to the straight upward and downward flows. Please study that URL of examples, and notice there is some thickness where the flow emerges from the ring, it is not a skinny line. The side spirals could be made a little more spiraly than the image B example.
The ring on the fleur-de-lis can be thicker than the example of image. The top tip of the fleur-de-lis must end at the same height as those peaks, and the bottom smaller version should have it's bottom tip approximately where image B's is. So plan to make the bottom part a considerably smaller
inverted non-exact version of the top part.
I suggest to work in stages. Pick a basic shape from the URL, and get that approved. I thought image B and C were a little too wide overall.
Make the black shape, get it approved, then expand an outline layer below it, make it white, to be the white
edging. Then make 2D layers of a dark grey to apply above the black to start giving it a bit of 3D-ish highlight shape, get that approved, and finally, work on applying softer-edge gradient highlights.
