Sinister Murder Novel Cover Design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m getting ready to self-publish my new murder-for-hire novel and need a striking, professional cover that immediately signals danger and darkness. The story hinges on calculated violence and devil-may-care brutality, so the art must feel genuinely sinister—almost devilish—rather than simply “dark.”
Visual direction
The palette should revolve around a dominant, blood-toned red. I specifically want a swastika worked into the composition along with a devil’s fork; both elements must feel integral and not decorative, hinting at the twisted ideology and malice that drive the plot. The overall finish should read as contemporary crime fiction rather than historical or fantasy.
Mood & tone
Think looming dread, tension you can almost touch, and an undercurrent of evil. I’m aiming for an unsettling first impression that makes a reader anticipate a chilling, morally warped thriller.
Deliverables
• Print-ready front, spine, and back cover suitable for KDP or IngramSpark (300 dpi, CMYK, sized to final trim plus bleed).
• A high-res e-book front cover (JPEG or PNG).
• Source file (PSD, AI, or layered TIFF) so future text tweaks are possible.
I’ll supply the exact title, author name, and any back-cover blurb as soon as we start. Please share links to a couple of comparable covers you’ve created so I can gauge fit.
