Retro City Guide Cover Illustrations
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I’m commissioning a small series of travel-guide book covers and need a skilled illustrator who thrives in a flat, geometric, mid-century modern style. The cities in the set are Paris, Rome, Buenos Aires, and Medellín. Each illustration must feel cohesive across the series, yet instantly evoke its own destination through iconic skyline elements and a vibrant but carefully limited colour palette.
These will be the actual front covers of print guidebooks, so the artwork must be vector-based (Adobe Illustrator or equivalent) and supplied press-ready at 300 dpi with a safe area for title and subtitle placement. I’ll provide the exact trim size and spine width once we start; you’ll focus on the illustrated scene while leaving a clean space up top for our masthead.
Deliverables
• Four separate, layered AI or EPS files (one per city)
• High-resolution RGB and CMYK PDFs for each cover
• Colour and font specs used, so our in-house team can match internal pages if needed
I’ll review a rough composition for each city first, then one round of refinements before final art. Clean lines, balanced geometry, and a playful retro vibe are the hallmarks I’m after; if this sounds like your wheelhouse, I’d love to see a sample of similar work and get started right away.
