Realistic Illustrations for Novel
Budget: £18 – £36 GBP
I’m creating an illustrated novel and need a series of realistic-style illustrations that bring every part of the story to life—characters, the settings they move through, and the key objects that anchor each scene. The tone is cinematic rather than cartoonish, so I’m picturing accurate proportions, expressive lighting, and textures that feel tangible on the page.
Although I value a polished final look, I’m completely open to working with beginners or emerging illustrators; enthusiasm and an eye for detail matter more to me than a long résumé. If you love refining anatomy studies in Procreate or layering highlights in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, you’ll fit right in.
Scope
• Full-colour, print-ready artwork for multiple chapters (exact count to be confirmed once we outline the scenes together).
• Each illustration should match the novel’s dimensions (standard 6"×9", 300 dpi, CMYK).
• Source files retained in layered PSD, AI, or Procreate format so text or layout tweaks are easy later.
Acceptance
When you deliver, I’ll do a quick check for:
1. Accurate depiction of all requested characters, scenery, and key objects.
2. Consistent lighting, palette, and perspective across every piece.
3. Clean layers and naming inside the source file so my layout designer can jump in without confusion.
If this sounds exciting, send over two or three portfolio pieces that highlight realistic figure work or environment design, and let me know roughly how many illustrations you can tackle per week. Looking forward to building this world together.
