Realistic Children’s Book Art

I’m bringing a new children’s book to life and need an illustrator who can render warm, engaging scenes in a realistic style—think expressive faces, believable lighting, and richly detailed environments that still feel magical to young readers. The manuscript is ready; what’s missing is the visual storytelling that will carry kids from page to page.

Here’s how I picture our collaboration:

• We start with rough concept sketches so the composition, character design, and overall color mood are agreed on early.
• Once the look is locked, you’ll move into clean line work and full-color finals, delivering high-resolution CMYK files (layered PSD or AI is fine) suitable for both print and digital formats.
• A separate front-cover illustration and back-cover vignette round out the job, while spot art for chapter headings would be a welcome bonus if time allows.

Acceptance criteria are straightforward: every image must match the page dimensions I’ll provide, maintain consistent character proportions from scene to scene, and reach at least 300 DPI so the printer gives us crisp results.
