Historical and Thematic Maps
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
We need a variety of maps that range from illustrating historical regions, such as the extent of the Russian Empire during the reign of Catherine the Great, to maps of modern regions/countries, and thematic maps that illustrate such patterns as world economies, governments, etc. Each map will be used in conjunction with a middle school social studies curriculum so accuracy and aesthetic clarity are equally important. Boundaries must follow established historical scholarship or current data.
We will provide historically accurate outline maps or examples as sources along with instructions of what locations and landmarks need to be labeled. Additionally, we will provide a style guide for consistency on all the maps created for the curriculum. The entire project will possibly include 50 - 60 maps.
Please work in a fully editable vector environment—Adobe Illustrator, SVG generated from QGIS/ArcGIS, or a comparable tool—so we can scale and adjust the artwork later. All fonts, color swatches, and layer structures should remain intact.
Deliverables
• Editable vector file (SVG, or layered PDF)
• High-resolution print-ready export (minimum 300 dpi PNG or PDF)
Acceptance criteria
• Borders match reputable historical sources you cite
• Labels remain crisp and legible at A3 size
• Color scheme stays distinguishable when converted to grayscale
Please let us know if this project would be in the scope of your work and feel free to include samples of comparable maps you’ve produced. An estimate of the cost per map or for the entire project would be helpful.
