Historical Civil War Map Design

Job ID: 39823086

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m designing a strategy board game set in the American Civil War and need a single, fully finished map that feels like it could have been pulled from an 1860s field atlas. The artwork must embrace a historical aesthetic—period-appropriate typefaces, muted colour palettes, and weathered paper textures—rather than a modern or cartoonish style.

Core content that has to appear on the board:
• Clearly drawn state boundaries for all Union and Confederate states
• Major terrain features that would affect troop movement (mountain ranges, rivers, swamps, rail lines, etc.)
• Prominent forts accurately placed and named, consistent with the era

The final file should be delivered in a print-ready, high-resolution digital format suitable for standard board size (I can adjust the exact dimensions once the art is complete). Layered source files are appreciated so I can tweak token placement later if needed.

When you reply, focus on your experience with historical cartography, period-style illustration, or previous board-game maps. A short note on the tools you use (Illustrator, Photoshop, Affinity, Procreate, GIS, etc.) is helpful, but no lengthy proposal documents are required.
