Detailed Preschool Book Illustrations

The picture-book manuscript is ready, and now it needs vivid artwork that speaks to preschoolers (ages 3-5). The story revolves around early-learning concepts—letters, numbers, shapes and simple problem-solving—so every spread must pull young readers into an educational adventure without ever feeling like homework.

I’m after a detailed, realistic illustration style: clear forms, accurate proportions and rich textures that still feel friendly and age-appropriate. Think lifelike characters and settings, but with the warmth and colour palette that keeps little eyes engaged.

Scope of work
• 24 interior pages plus front and back cover
• Full-bleed, print-ready CMYK files (300 dpi) and web-optimised RGB copies
• Layered source files in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop so text can be adjusted separately
• Consistent characters, backgrounds and lighting across the book
• Simple spot illustrations or icons where the learning content calls for them

Acceptance criteria
• Each illustration complements the text by clearly highlighting the key learning point on that page.
• Colours remain true after test print (standard digital press).
• Final files pass pre-press checks for bleed, crop marks and safe zones.
