Design our new Glitter Topper range!
Budget: £10 – £15 GBP
We are an online business who produce cake decorations which our customers can personalise. Our icing, wafer and glitter card toppers help finish over 2 million cakes a year worldwide at the time of writing, but we are keen to grow our business and add some new ranges over the coming months. We are looking for suitable quality designers who can create interesting original designs that will hold a unique space in the market, match our style guide /vision and enable us to stand out against our competitors!
Our new ‘Top Party Themes’ glitter cake toppers will be made of a single colour sheet of 480gsm glitter card which is laser cut into shape. The card is quite strong but as a designer on this project you will need to consider that complex touches to the artwork may not always be possible from a structural perspective - the toppers may become too weak, and they could break. The format of your vector design should show 2 colours, the colour of the topper itself and the laser-cut holes. This will create a ‘black and white' or ’silhouette’ effect for our team to print from. We would need files supplied as vectors (ideally AI files).
The range will have 12 sub-genres: dinosaurs, superheroes, unicorns, princesses & fairies, jungle animals, pets, sport, gaming, vehicles, under the sea, monsters, space & robots. These genres will all need designs for four main age groups: baby, young kids, kids and teenagers. The complexity of each design will need to reflect the target market and will all need to be personalised by our customers with a name, an age or ideally both! We have attached a few examples of a few of our current topper designs and one that we have mocked up ourselves which will show you the sort of thing we are after.
As our designs are all going to have the option to be personalised, we need to know our designers are great with font choice and are capable of editing fonts/adding new glyphs if necessary. As you can see from the examples, wording in a design can be used to hold the topper together and make it structurally sound, or just to make the design better on the eye. Experience with font work is desirable and we are happy to pay for font licenses if is necessary. We have a Vecteezy pro account that you can access for extra assets helping you to create the designs quickly and enhance your work!
Finally, we just want to make you aware that we would retain ownership, or any artwork designed for this commission, and we would require you to sign a document to this effect.

Note that there is potential for this to become a long-term partnership as our business progresses with new ranges and design opportunities around the corner so please take the time to write a considered application! Note that if you simply send a load of logos you have designed in the past which are not relevant to this project, we will simply ignore your application! We are looking for artists, not agencies, please. If we are happy with your response, we will get a test design created and all being well a contract across and get started as soon as possible!
