Information About The Book & Its Audience
Delegation by Design is a 90-100 page booklet on working with virtual assistants. The book was written by Nate Sykes, owner of The People Company, a secretarial services / virtual assistance firm in the United States.
Book Objective
The commercial objective of the book is to offer as a free lead magnet to my target audience (detailed below) in exchange for their information to target them for retaining The People Company to hire a virtual assistant. The secondary objective is to frame the book as an ‘authority boosting’ piece for Nate, to help increase his close rate on sales calls.
Target Audience
This book is targeting small business owners and entrepreneurs that are overwhelmed, and need to learn how to delegate to a virtual assistant. Specifically:
Doing six figures in revenue, annually. We are not interested in attracting startups or people without money.
Typically between 25 and 50 years old, though may be a little older.
Industry agnostic; the only industries that we cannot place virtual assistants in are the medical industry and the financial planning industry.
No specific education level needed to consume the book, but most business owners we are targeting have at least a college degree.
Book Cover
The current iteration of Delegation by Design is an electronic book, but I’m 150 pages into an expanded copy that will be print-ready. The book cover you design will start as an e-book / digital book, but we’ll come back to ask you to design the print copy as well when we’re ready.
Standard 6” x 9” cover. Again, right now we’re just doing the e-book copy, but it will remain 6” x 9” when we shift into print too.
Book Covers I Like
Here are some book covers that I enjoy looking at, and I believe my target audience would also appreciate.
Here is what I like about them:
Each cover cleverly integrates some sort of iconography or graphics; it’s not just text. This is the opposite: example 1, example 2
The title is clear and easy to read, in nice bold letters. This is the opposite: example 1, example 2
The covers are colorful and use bright, vibrant colors and patterns. This is the opposite: example 1, example 2
Color / Font Suggestions
I leave it up to the designer to make suggestions about this.
However, please view The People Company’s website. The book will be displayed, often, in conjunction with these colors. This does not mean that the book cover should be based on the TPC green/pink; in fact I’d be a little disappointed if that was the case. It should just be complimentary to that color palette.
