Abstract Kids Book Illustrator Needed
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
I’m putting together a lively children’s book for readers aged 6-8 and I need a gifted illustrator who can paint the story in a bold, abstract style. Every spread must pop with vibrant colour, littered with Australian botanicals in green open spaces and imaginative shapes that keep young eyes glued to the page while still guiding them smoothly through the narrative.
The artwork has to spotlight three things in equal measure: memorable characters with clear expressions, playful yet coherent scenes and Australian landscape backgrounds, and small object details that reward a second look. Consistency of palette and visual language across the entire book is essential so the finished work feels like one seamless adventure.
Here’s what I’d like from you:
• Full-colour illustrations for each page plus a front-cover composition (final count to be confirmed together).
• Layered PSD or AI files along with high-resolution PNGs ready for print (at least 300 dpi, CMYK).
• A simple style guide—palette references, brush choices or textures—so my designer can apply your look to the title page and marketing assets.
Along the way we’ll review rough character sketches, page thumbnails and final line art before colour.
