Professional Tech Book Formatting
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I have a completed business-and-technology manuscript in Microsoft Word along with the front, spine, and back cover artwork. Now I need the entire package shaped into press-ready and e-book files that meet the strict requirements of Amazon KDP, Barnes & Noble, and Apple Books.
Here’s the scope. You will take the Word file, establish a clean, consistent layout, embed any figures or tables correctly, generate an interactive table of contents, and apply all required metadata. Once the interior is locked down, you will export and test high-quality EPUB, MOBI/KPF, and print-ready PDF versions. The finished files must pass ePubCheck and the Amazon, Nook, and Apple previewers without warnings. Because the text is highly technical, I also expect you to spot and fix any formatting-related language issues a native English speaker would catch—misplaced symbols, code blocks that wrap badly, incorrect caption alignment, and similar glitches.
Deliverables
• Print-ready PDF (trim 6 x 9) with embedded fonts
• Reflowable EPUB validated through ePubCheck
• KPF/MOBI file that clears Kindle Previewer
• Final source files (InDesign or similar) plus the updated Word master
Acceptance criteria
• All files upload to KDP, B&N, and Apple Books without errors or manual tweaks
• Consistent heading hierarchy, figure numbering, and cross-references
• Clickable internal links and external references function on all devices
• No stray styles, widows/orphans, or broken lines in code samples
