Your assignment is to carry out a full forensic examination that proves (or disproves) the file’s integrity, pinpoints any signs of tampering, and identifies possible deletion or insertion of segments.
The work should cover spectral, waveform, and metadata analysis using recognised forensic-audio software such as iZotope RX Advanced, Cedar, Audition (or equivalent). Every finding has to be documented with clear methodology so it can be presented in court and explained to non-technical audiences if required.
Deliverables
• A signed forensic report detailing procedures, tools, results, and conclusions on authenticity, tampering, and segment manipulation
• Time-stamped annotations or marked spectrograms supporting each key point
• A chain-of-custody statement confirming how the evidence was handled throughout analysis
Acceptance criteria
1. Report follows ASTM/IEC best-practice wording and can be sworn under penalty of perjury.
2. All conclusions are reproducible from the supplied data and described workflow.
3. No alteration of the original exhibit; all work is on verified copies.
