Book Interior & Cover Formatting

I have a completed Word manuscript and a short brief for the cover; now I need the whole project brought up to professional press standards. Your main task is to move everything into the printer-supplied template, polish the text layout, and prepare a print-ready interior PDF/X-1a.

The manuscript already carries font and size notes directly inside the Word file, so you can lift the exact styles from there. Text layout—margins, type area, columns, headers, footers, hyphenation, widow-orphan control—takes priority, though I also want you to optimise every placed image for correct resolution and colour space (300 dpi, CMYK). A fully functional, auto-updated TOC with correct pagination is part of the job.

Once the interior is locked, please design the paperback cover (front, spine, back) to the same printer specs, including bleed and a spine width calculated from the final page count. The spine text must read: “ - Soulmap - Familienanalyse - Gueli - ”.

Deliverables
• InDesign package (or comparable professional layout file)
• Print-ready interior PDF/X-1a with embedded fonts and bleed
• Print-ready cover PDF to the printer’s template
• A quick proof set for my approval before final export

Acceptance
The files must pass the printer’s pre-flight with no font substitutions, colour warnings, or transparency issues. I’ll consider the project complete once the printer confirms readiness for press.

If you work comfortably in Adobe InDesign, Acrobat Pro, and Photoshop—or equivalent tools that satisfy the same output standards—this should be a straightforward assignment.
