NY Appellate Brief Formatting
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
I am working on a New York Appellate Division (Second Department) filing and need an experienced professional to assist with the technical preparation of a Brief and Record on Appeal. This is a formatting and structuring task—not legal drafting.
The material includes:
• A nearly complete appellate brief (~30–90 pages)
• Record on Appeal consisting of approximately 1500–2000 pages across multiple volumes (PDF format)
Scope of Work
The selected freelancer will be responsible for:
• Running full OCR to ensure all PDFs are text-searchable
• Merging and organizing documents without altering the existing docket order
• Applying continuous pagination across volumes (as instructed)
• Creating hierarchical bookmarks for all major sections (volumes → documents → sub-sections)
• Preparing a clean, accurate Table of Contents (TOC) matching final pagination
• Formatting the brief to ensure consistency (font, spacing, structure)
• Integrating key documents including:
– Cover sheet
– 5531 Statement
– Notice/Copy of Appeal
• Delivering a court-ready, NYSCEF-compliant PDF
Important Instructions
• The record is already organized by docket number—do not reorder documents
• Accuracy in pagination and TOC alignment is critical
• Final output must be clean, navigable, and suitable for Appellate Division filing
• Experience with legal document formatting or appellate filings is strongly preferred
Deliverables
• Fully OCR-processed, text-searchable PDF
• Properly paginated and bookmarked Brief & Record
• Table of Contents (Word + final integrated version)
• Final consolidated PDF ready for NYSCEF upload
Timeline
• Initial draft (structured sample) required within 24–48 hours
• Full completion within 3–5 days
Ideal Candidate
• Strong experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
• Prior work with court filings / legal PDFs / appellate records
• High attention to detail and ability to handle large-volume documents
Additional Note
Please share examples of similar work (redacted samples are fine). Accuracy and reliability are more important than speed.
