Active Directory Decommission Project
Budget: $55 – $95 CAD
I have finished standing up a fresh set of domain controllers and it is now time to retire the remaining legacy servers. The new environment is healthy and fully operational; what I need is a methodical, low-risk decommission of the old boxes so we end with a clean, error-free domain.
Your work will include confirming that all FSMO roles, replication partners, login scripts, and GPO links have already moved or been updated, then safely demoting the legacy DCs, cleaning up metadata, and validating DNS as well as SYSVOL health once the machines are gone.
Deliverables
• A concise step-by-step decommission plan tailored to our domain
• Execution of the demotion and post-cleanup tasks (remote access available)
• Health-check reports (dcdiag, repadmin, DNS) showing zero errors after removal
• A short hand-over note so future audits reflect the change
