Zero-Balance 2024 Plan Filings
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
For the 2024 plan year there was no activity in either my Defined Benefit Plan or my 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan, yet the annual Form 5500 paperwork still has to be filed. All historic filings, trust documents, and plan adoption agreements are already organized in PDF, so the work focuses purely on compliance preparation rather than data gathering.
What I need from an enrolled actuary is straightforward:
• Prepare the 2024 Form 5500 for each plan, with the appropriate zero-balance schedules (SB, MB, R, etc.).
• E-file both returns ahead of the deadline and send back the final stamped copies for my records.
• Verify that no additional participant notices or disclosures are triggered by the zero activity and note any future requirements.
Everything must align with ERISA, IRS, and DOL guidelines. Once you have the forms ready, a quick walk-through of the numbers (or zeros) on a short call would be helpful to confirm accuracy before submission.
