NJ Payroll Specialist
Budget: $500 – $1,500 USD
I run a New York CPA practice and one of our corporate clients has fallen behind with New Jersey filings for 2023–24. I need an experienced NJ tax professional—EA or CPA preferred—to bring them back into full compliance.
Scope of work
The immediate task is to prepare and file 2023 and 2024 NJ income tax returns for the two owners, the corresponding corporate CBT returns, and all associated NJ payroll returns (NJ-927/NJ-500, WR-30). Sales-tax filings are not part of this engagement at the moment, but they could surface later depending on what we uncover.
Data situation
We do not have a complete document set. You’ll need to guide my team and the client on gathering missing bank statements, payroll summaries, 1099s/W-2s, and any other source records you consider critical. QuickBooks Online files and prior-year federal workpapers are available.
Deliverables
• 2023 & 2024 NJ corporate tax returns, ready for e-file
• 2023 & 2024 NJ payroll returns, ready for e-file
• 2023 & 2024 NJ individual income tax returns for both shareholders, ready for e-file
• Supporting workpapers and reconciliations in Excel or PDF
• Brief advisory memo on penalties, interest, and compliance next steps
Acceptance criteria
Filings must be accepted by the NJ Division of Taxation, and workpapers should be clear enough for peer review within my firm.
Timeline
I’d like the 2023 set completed within three weeks of engagement and 2024 shortly after. If the collaboration goes smoothly, ongoing NJ compliance work will follow.
Please tell me about your NJ back-filing experience, the software you prefer (CCH Axcess, UltraTax, Lacerte, etc.), and your availability for a quick kickoff call.
