Our Forensic Accountant

I am an investor in a project that has very suspect financial practices. I am arranging appointments to look over the company's Quickbook records--but I don't know what to look for. I want to hire an expert who can look at the records with me. This is not a sophisticated business. All transactions are through paper checks (no electronic payment system). There should be a reserve account and 3-4 large deposits to that account over the first two quarters of last year totalling over $500,000. The Manager has stonewalled and made up fantastical excuses regarding why he couldn't produce bank statements. For decades, he alone has handled the budgeting, payment collection, bill payment (including his own salary), management of the reserve account. I'm interested in contracting for a block of hours, some of which would go toward defining exactly what could be explored/reviewed/discovered during the limited time I'm allowed to see financial records. Additional hours would be contracted for reporting out.
