Funds Tracing for Litigation
Budget: $3,000 – $5,000 USD
I need an experienced forensic-minded accountant or analyst who can follow the money leaving our U.S. business and landing in Canadian accounts. The core evidence is from 2017-2025 of bank statements, all supplied as PDFs. Stripe transaction logs and tax filings are also on hand .
What I’m after is a clear, defensible map of the cash flow—dates, amounts, originating account, destination account, and any intermediary hops. A concise narrative summary plus a spreadsheet or database I can sort and filter will be perfect; I am not looking for an expert-witness report or courtroom-ready affidavit.
Timeline is tight, so I’d like to kick off within days and receive rolling updates. Please outline your estimated hours or propose a fixed fee after you review a sample statement. All work will be covered by an NDA.
1. Transaction Tracing & Flow of Funds
• Follow the money trail from Stripe, bank accounts (U.S. and Canadian), and other sources.
• Identify where revenue went and whether any transfers were unusual or improper.
• Map out incoming revenue (e.g., Stripe income) and where it was spent or moved.
2. Business Revenue vs. Expenses
• Compare company revenue against known expenses and claimed financial status.
• Assess if the claim that there was “no money left” to pay business obligations (like a $15K/month mortgage) is supported by the financials.
3. Savings, Investments accts, and Hidden Assets
• Examine whether investment or savings accounts were misclassified or hidden and map how the money got to those accounts and how much was transferred over time.
• Identify any discrepancies in how funds were categorized (personal vs. business).
4. Ownership and Loan Documentation
• Analyze documents claiming shareholder loans, repayments, or capital contributions.
• Determine whether these were legitimate or used to siphon money out.
5. Tax Return Analysis
• Review both U.S. and Canadian tax filings to assess:
• Claimed income and deductions
• Whether they align with business revenue and profit and loss (I have this too)
• Any signs of evasion, misclassification, or omitted income
6. Support for Legal Proceedings
• Provide a report or summary that can help my attorneys demonstrate potential fraud or financial misconduct.
• I don’t need a full courtroom expert report—just a solid financial roadmap that holds up under scrutiny.
Documents I Can Provide
• Stripe exports and summaries (2016-2025)
• U.S. and Canadian bank account statements
• U.S. and Canadian business tax returns
• Shareholder agreement and business registration info
