Fund Accounting Specialist Required
Budget: $10 – $40 USD
We are looking for a fund accounting specialist to help us set up and maintain our real estate (farm operation) fund. You will be responsible for tracking the fund's accounting activities, such as partners' equity, capital contributions, capital distributions, retained earnings, and performance fees. You will also prepare and review financial statements and reports for the fund and its partners.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in fund accounting with expertise in financial analysis and portfolio accounting. Proficiency in using leading accounting software is a plus, but not mandatory as we have yet to finalize our choice of software. Please mention your preferred accounting tools in your bid. The perfect fit would be someone who can work well within a small team, contributing their own insights and knowledge to improve our financial health.
Responsibilities
- Set up a chart of accounts for the fund and its partners, using subaccounts to reflect the different classes of partnership interests and the allocation of profit or loss among the partners
- Record and reconcile the fund's transactions and events, such as investments, drawdowns, realizations, and distributions
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports for the fund and its partners, such as balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and capital statements
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and policies
- Communicate and collaborate with the fund manager, the custodian bank, the investment manager, and other stakeholders
- Provide support and guidance on fund accounting issues and queries
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in fund accounting, preferably for private equity funds or real estate funds
- Proficient in fund/general online accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Xero, FreshBooks, Waveapps or similar
- Knowledgeable in accounting principles, standards, and regulations, such as GAAP, IFRS, or similar
- Familiar with the legal structure and terms of private equity funds and partnership agreements
- Familiar with the farm operations and the accounting treatment of farm development costs and farm inventory
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated
- Able to work independently and meet deadlines
