I need a straightforward accounting application focused on one thing: reliable financial reporting. The first milestone is the automatic generation of a clean, export-ready Balance Sheet.

• Core scope: accounting module that records journal entries and instantly assembles a Balance Sheet for any chosen date range.
• Data entry: simple screens to add, edit, and post transactions to a configurable chart of accounts. CSV import for bulk entries is a plus.
• Reporting: one-click Balance Sheet in PDF and Excel, with filters for period, department, and currency. Figures must tie out accurately and support drill-down to the underlying transactions.
• Technology: I’m flexible—web app or desktop is fine—so long as the interface is clear and the codebase is well-documented for future features such as income-statement or cash-flow reports.
• Security & audit: role-based access, edit logs, and a nightly database backup routine.
