Bookkeeper for Small-Scale Renovation Project - Urgent Start

Job ID: 39595875

Budget: $8 – $15 CAD

We are looking for a detail-oriented, fast-working bookkeeper to support a small apartment building renovation project in Canada. While the overall project is modest, the complexity lies in managing 200–300 individual transactions with many overlapping deposits, contractor payments, management fees, and other unrelated entries. This role requires immediate availability and high focus during the early phase, with daily check-ins and deep work to untangle and structure the financial picture.

Start Date: ASAP
Duration: ~1–2 months (with possibility of extension)
Meetings: Daily video meetings (sometimes between 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM PST) required during the initial setup phase (first few days).

Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and maintain a clear Google Sheets ledger for all income, expenses, deposits, and credits.
• Remove unrelated items and mark them accordingly.
• Trace and clean up complex financial relationships between items (ex: deposit vs. actual invoice vs. credit).
• Create simplified visual summaries and professional reports for management use.
• Develop a standardized reporting template for future updates.
• Track outstanding payments, future liabilities, and credits.
• Allow for easy multi-person collaboration by structuring the sheet for updates and auditing.

Deliverables:
• Organized and accurate Google Sheet with financial records.
• Visual dashboard or summary section for decision-makers.
• Reporting template for weekly/monthly updates.

Qualifications:
• Proven bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of small project accounting and reconciliation practices.
• Experience working with complex or messy transaction sets and untangling financial data.
• Advanced Google Sheets skills (filters, pivot tables, formulas, data validation, formatting).
• Ability to work quickly, independently, and communicate clearly.
• Comfortable participating in live video check-ins and sharing progress.
